LANAP®

WE ARE PROUD TO BE THE FIRST AND ONLY OFFICE IN NORTH CENTRAL FLORIDA TO OFFER THIS BREAKTHROUGH IN THE TREATMENT OF GUM DISEASE.

Utilizing the body’s own natural ability to heal itself, Dr. Altschuler uses the PerioLase® for the Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP®). Performed without a scalpel and sutures, LANAP® creates an environment for regeneration of the tissues around your teeth (bone, cementum, ligament) that are lost due to periodontal disease.

Due to the ability of the laser to target and remove only diseased tissue, Dr. Altschuler is able to help restore you to health with little post-operative pain. This is in conjunction with a detailed home care program that will be explained to you at the time of your consultation.

We use LANAP Laser Therapy to preserve as much of the healthy gum tissue as possible, maintain the height of the gums around the teeth, and minimize the discomfort to the patient.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

  • Faster healing
  • Minimal pain or post-op discomfort
  • Less bleeding
  • Reduced risk of infection – laser virtually sterilizes the periodontal pocket
  • Decreased sensitivity
  • Minimal gum recession

OUR QUALIFICATIONS

Dr. Altschuler has been certified for the LANAP procedure by the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry. He is also certified by the World Clinical Laser Institute in Laser Therapy.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The laser generates a tiny beam of concentrated light energy. This energy sterilizes the area, removes diseased tissue only, and may improve reattachment and regeneration of periodontal tissues. In addition, lasers seal off blood vessels and nerve endings during the procedure reducing bleeding and discomfort.

While surgery is still indicated for many patients, laser therapy may be a conservative, effective option for selective periodontal cases.
